Planning on to move to Austin from Bay Area. Considering real estate pricing, inflation, rents do you guys think it’s worth getting a 10% cut in base?

Stay in Bay Area, don’t move to Austin. It’s not worth it. I moved here about 8 months back and repenting now, will probably move back.

A lot if you compare with Bay Area.
      - 10% cut is significant
      - unpredictable weather(tornado, hail storm, ice storm, heat warnings)
      - very few places to visit and hard do drive outside of Texas (too long & dull)
      - infrastructure is still improving but will take time
      - pathetic housing situation, bay area is same but at least you will get quality for the bucks, here it’s just quantity if you’re lucky
      - really really expensive
      - work culture is completely different

definitely austin. you can get much more house in austin for the same price. any shack in the bay area will equate to a mansion in austin suburbs. People complain about property tax a lot but they don't know senate bill 2 passed in 2019 limit state property tax income increases to 2.5% and 3.5% for school districts/cities/counties taxes, so as values go up a lot tax rate will come down. In the end taxes will stay roughly the same
