Believe it or not my team at Amzn is pretty chill. Good WLB and on a promo path. Currently I’m an L4, 1YOE, TC 180k NYC.

I have an offer for Citadel NXT (SWE) which is some training program they offer feeding into mid level roles. TC 300k NYC. Seems like a no brainer, but my friend at Citadel is telling not to come. He says it’s a brutal place and that I won’t have time for anything outside of work. He’s very passionate about these negative feelings, even says he wants to quit soon. Idk, maybe I should just look for a different position if I wanna get paid more? Or wait til I’m promoted? I haven’t looked that hard, this all happened bc a recruiter reached out to me.

Separately I feel like Citadel is a ticket into a world of prestige, more so than Amazon.

    Honestly i thought i liked being productive for the first 6 months but im kinda just tired at this point and recently feel like stock upside at a tech company would net higher TC in the long run

    I joined Citadel from Google and love it. People are driven and get stuff done. If you just want to coast don’t join, but if you like building software it’s way better than Google and it’s nice not to be surrounded by coasters. I’m working 45-50 hours a week.

      1. L4 isn’t a senior really. 2. Stock paper money is not the same as real cash at citadel. 3. Google L4’s comp is 260K based on levels.FYI. Still very far from 300K.

    • SMTS at Salesforce isn’t really Senior, publicly traded stable stocks are better than cash in most scenarios due to the immense upside with low risks, Google L4 range usually starts at 250k and goes beyond 300k depending on interview performance and competing offers.
