How as a PM you move to any cloud service company. I have been after this since some time. Do not have any experience in Cloud tech at all, although have a technical background. If you are a PM already at Amazon, Does Amazon allow their non-AWS PM/PMTs to move to AWS PMT? I mean you need to break in somehow to be able to crack GCP/Azure. I see a lot of MBA Interns getting into PMT, this clearly shows that Amazon can soak existing PM pool into core AWS PMT roles right? How do you prepare technically/functionally to land a role in Cloud technology as a PM, let’s say 1 year down the line? #productmanager #cloud #aws #azure #gcp

Yeah you do not want to be in AWS with no cloud background. PIP is real. To answer your question yes you can get hired as non tech PM in Retail and move to AWS which will be a lot easier then to get hired directly in AWS. That being said you will need to be technically savvy to run with rest of AWS teams from day 1. To much pressure from the start, unless you go to any SaaS company first or a lower tier regional cloud providers before jumping in to AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Very useful comment, thanks Instacart. What are these lower tier cloud providers SaaS setups to target? I don’t mind leaving Amazon for these for a couple of years :-)
