Are you sure it's sde 2? Level 61?

Amazon jorgan OP Mar 15, 2020

Amazon hSke73 Mar 15, 2020

AWS looks better on your resume

Microsoft CloudSmith Mar 15, 2020

Lol.. are you working in Azure?

Microsoft CAPSossela Mar 15, 2020

Yes - Working on Azure

I would take it for the instant promo, tc is decent for Microsoft. But your experience will depend on the team and org. Some teams have a steep learning curve and you'll be expected to do more as sde 2

Good joke kid 😂 I am calling BS

It’s quite common nowadays. Three external sde-2’s just joined my org- they all had less than 1 YOE. Sad truth is switching companies at lower levels is the fastest way to get promo.

Amazon hSke73 Mar 15, 2020

Naw MS has hard yoe req. Recruiter told me

Azure is what made $MSFT go up. It’s money maker org.

It is but they are cheap on treating employees well, office spends more on their engineers. But you can get faster promos in azure, so maybe it balances.

if you're not BSing and people think offer is too good to be true, take it as a compliment. Be so good that people think you are cheating.

Sure, why not jump up a step? Nothing prevents you from getting back to Amazon as an SDE3 several years later, if you suddenly decide that "long term" AWS is better

Coupang BRGJ01 Mar 15, 2020

Yes so true just walk between companies and you will get higher titles always

Not always, not everyone - but many people do it successfully
