Wondering if anyones had experience moving from consulting into PE? I’m a relatively new grad (last may) but I’m looking into possibly making a move in a few years. I’ve heard from some people that MBA is the only real way that’s not having to die from networking, but curious if anyone has heard otherwise?
Would get in contact with a recruiter in the space. There are certain private equity companies that are more or less amenable to consultants being hired in their firms, and even then it can be very firm specific. Agree with straeus that the move to operational team is much more achievable from any background that is not “investment banking analyst”
Also depends on the strategy consulting you work in and the location you are in. Having PE clients or similar projects would definitely help for the networking. Coming from McKinsey in NYC would be easier than from Simon Kutcher in Germany.

That makes sense, thanks for your input. Is there a major difference between originations and operational improvement?
