Anyone had this experience before? I have been at Amazon London as SDE2 and just got an offer in Google Zurich SRE level 3 which is lower than my current level but with more compensation.
1- I am worried about my career growth as I am moving to a lower level and I am learning a lot at Amazon but with a lot of pressure. Not sure how the team will look like in Google?
2- Also, the idea of moving between companies quickly. I will be completing my first year at Amazon next month.
3- Is it a good idea to move from London to Zurich in terms of having a good life?
4- Will the language(German) be a problem in Zurich?
current TC: 115$
Google TC: 160$

I found quality of life to be good in Switzerland especially if you love nature. If you are an Indian and a foodie, nothing is better than London for you.

Career growth will be much slower and you ain't going to job hop no more in Zurich, almost noone else there would match google pay.
For life, Zurich is a pretty boring and small city. If you have kids and need stability in life it's ok. For young and single London wins hands down
Language will not be a big problem in the city, but you won't get away from having to study it at all either
The only downside is that SRE is a career killer, you can't really get a job as anything else other than a DevOps in non-FAANG companies. So you have to switch to SWE eventually inside Google.
That said, Amazon SDE spends like 50% of his time doing DevOps anyway, but at least you have the title of a software engineer.
I thought it was around 180k
