Currently working at Cognizant hoping to land a job at FAANG or some other larger bay area/seattle tech company. What are some best tips or advice that you might have to prep for applications and interviews? How can I stand out and increase my chances of success? Any advice would be helpful
I moved from consulting to LinkedIn myself. The two things that I think helped are: 1. I'm good at coding - not among the best by FANG standards but above average. 2. I was already in the bay area so knew people who knew people in product companies.
Hi. Would love to hear more abt your experience
I did something similar, if you’re really top tier and shooting for FANG I would use your next job as a “jump pad” position. Get some experience on a bigger distributed app at a medium company, Leetcode till your fingers bleed and apply to Fang after like a year. I went from Consultancy->medium sized co for a year ->salesforce since I don’t think I’m fang material and don’t want to move back to cali. In hindsight I probably could’ve skipped the middle step if the opportunity was there, but it wasn’t at the time.
is there a specific mid sized company you'd recommend. or is any mid sized company in the bay/seattle good?
Don’t want to recommend where I came from, it would ID me pretty easily, and I don’t live in the bay so can’t help there. Find somewhere with a big ole’ legacy distributed system.
