Im currently in Bay Area and feel like I should not leave Bay area as it has the best opportunities and conditions like weather are good as well. Of course prices are high but I feel the salaries are better here too. What do people think of moving out of Bay area? TC 280k
I am in Seattle now but will probably end up in the bay again. For me it's mainly about waiting until the market in SoCal is strong enough that I can move there and never leave.
Seconding SoCal, fuck the Bay with its "microclimate"
Right? Isn't it so sad that Los Angeles has such a weak tech market? I mean there are big companies out there but it just doesn't have the opportunities that Seattle and SF have. Google is building a new office there and I know other firms are expanding there as well. I dont know if it will ever be a tech hub though, I think LA will always be an entertainment hub. San Diego is essentially all defense contractors.
Born and grew up + went to college in the bay, and left in 2011. Best decision I ever made. Decided to give it another go and came back in 2015. Instantly regretted it and left again a year later. Yes, tech jobs are good in the bay but virtually everything else is crap. Never going back again.
You're missing a category: lived in Bay Area, moved away because it sucked ass.
My entire family lives in the bay so I don't see a reason to leave
I live in la and I’d like to stay here!
Hawai’i is amazing for wfh. Expensive but amazing and very strong internet access.
going to nyc soon, for active life, diversity and better gender ratios.
That's interesting. You are doing internal transfer?
maybe, also received many calls from companies in nyc (fb, fintech, etc), might consider interviewing elsewhere to get some idea for offers.
