How is the cost of living in Berlin compared to Austin ? Is there a way to compare the salary compensation in Berlin Vs Austin ? What is the average pay for a senior PM with 12 years of experience in Berlin ? Glassdoor isn't very helpful. Any techies here from Berlin ? What do you like /hate about the city ?
Aren’t taxes 55% in Germany? Austin has no state tax only federal tax. Senior devs with good skills can easily get 120K in Austin (may be more) but I wonder if pay scale in Germany is at that level. Most German jobs on indeed are 80K to 100K.
berlin is awesome. probably not for american dorks with sandals and TC obsession tho.
Yeah it’s hard to explain the benefits to people who haven’t been there.
That's great ! What is the one thing that you like about living in Berlin?

I live not so far away. Haven’t ever seen fox news. Are you merkel’s jerk?

It’s hard to say. When I lived there I payed 225€ for a room per month . It worked out really well. I’ve known people to get apartments around 500-700€. You just have to shop around. I’d recommend not committing to a residence long term before you’re there because you can probably find a better deal once you get there. It can be difficult finding the good deals via the internet. Cost of living for everyday stuff is the same more or less. Berlin has great transportation. I just used their train system. I didn’t have to even bother with buses. I can’t really think of any downsides. It’s better across the board in my opinion.
