I have recently joined Google Kirkland and wife also works as SWE in an ecommerce company (not Amazon). She is on h4 ead and my priority date is in 2012. We have our current papers valid till 2021. However, the certain cancellation of wife's ead and increasing uncertainty in my h1 renewals is causing more stress in my prime productive years than it's worth. I'm thinking about getting an internal transfer to Google Waterloo in couple of years and eventually working on either my own AI startup or joining one in Canada. I don't want to spend my entire 30s working for big corporations with very little mobility. It will also become easier for parents to visit us in Canada. My question is - how easy is it to move to Google Waterloo? I'm trying to find the answer internally at Google too. - I heard Uber is creating a new ATG center in Toronto. Are there any other similar companies?
In my mid-twenties, and India born. Will also follow something similar you said. Cant waste my life in uncertainty waiting for the GC. This H-1B makes me feel like a high paid but SLAVE.
High paid slave? Please don't denigrate those who were forced to work as slaves against their will, beaten up, starved and raped. You are a slave to money and you will always be so no matter where you move. Stop playing the victim.
Did you find any answer to move internally in Google?
Haven't done it actively yet, still busy with ramping up. Will do it in a couple of months.
Do you have to specifically do something for a internal switch?
