Everyone knows now that being on H1B visa in the US makes life very uncertain with regards to settling down, buying property etc. With no reasonable path to a GC/Citizenship, is it worth looking into Canada as a potential candidate for immigration. I know the TC will take a huge hit and the tech scene is not that great. But is the stability worth it in the long run? Please pour in your opinions...#canada #h1b
Cool.. Everyone was like ... Toronto, Toronto... This is the first time I'm getting a recommendation to go to a different city
LOL yea all jokes aside, no tech jobs outside of vancouver and Toronto so..... PR will be easier to get in Canada than US, but if you adjust for market salaries Toronto and vancouver COL > Bay Area, Either get ready for a big commute, or be ready to live in a shoebox. What’s your NW? Single, family? If you have 100k USD liquid and are a single bro, you can get a dope condo right in FiDi of Toronto for 500-600k Canadian pesos.
I'm married now .. with both my wife and I working in the Bay

If you have enough saving and don’t mind taking a tc hit for certainty in life Canada is definitely a good option. TORONTO and Vancouver have tons of Tech jobs and rated as one of the best cities to live in. I have lived in both and prefer TORONTO for the big city feel and more job opportunities but VANCOUVER is becoming a strong hub for tech jobs also and milder weather. Also, as you age healthcare is important and is covered in Canada
Thanks a lot .. that makes sense. But I'm also hearing about insane wait times for specialized doctors...
Ok my bad I assumed you are in tech. I am not familiar with wait times for Dr as I am not from that industry but there could be some truth to it. Definitely pull on that thread further before making any decisions.
Mental peace >>>> TC
A very very valid point which is at the top of my list ... The TC can also potentially increase and cease to be a problem in the future.
Watch cold as balls on YouTube. Then imagine that being the case 24x7x365. Then stay put in Murrrrica!
IMHO, no it's not worth it. Weather makes or breaks the fun you can have in a city. Not a single place in canada has that. Vancouver is too gloomy for most year, and Toronto is too cold for most year. You're better off going somewhere in Europe if you don't care about TC and want to enjoy life.
Source: have lived in both cities
No -not worth it. If TC is out of the picture choose somewhere warm and pleasant. The cold is unbearable. PM if you want to talk more
No space pls don’t
actually jk that sounds racist, ya reach but go to Winnipeg
