Hi folks, First post here, excited to be part of the group. Would love to hear your thoughts on the employers in Plano, TX and compensation ranges for someone with close to 20 years of Java Enterprise experience. I've worked as senior developer, tech lead, manager of software development managing .NET, DB and Java teams, reporting to CIO. Interested in remote work, currently in NY and would be moving to Plano, TX in a couple months. Would love to hear your thoughts on the move and job opportunities in Plano, TX and specifically remote only options? Do any of the big tech companies offer remote only options? Is there huge different in compensation between the tech firms (Google, FB etc) and Toyota, Investment banks etc? Thank you for your time and looking forward to a vibrant discussion.
I have been living in Dallas area for close to 20 yrs now. Pretty good place for family life and for raising kids. Affordable housing, good schools,... If you are of Desi background, plenty of Desi shops and restaurants. DM me if I can be of further help
there are a lot of consulting companies in dallas, but pay range in TX is not high compared to NY. if you can be an independent contractor and bill for multiple clients working remotely that's the perfect scenario i used to live in dallas
Looking for a full time role with benefits as wife would be working as a contractor in the healthcare space so we would be depending on my job for the benefits (health insurance mainly). Are there traditional employers in Dallas who hire directly? Travel is a problem but could work remotely if it's one of the established consulting companies. Is the pay range really drastically different from NY? Does having bigger YOE number help in mitigating that to some extent? Are you referring to the well known established consulting companies or body shops who are simply sub contractor for bigger employers or consulting firms? Thank you and if you don't mind me asking , how's Dallas for you from kids, family and long term living?
i moved from dallas to ny. and for the same level they matched my salary in ny just for the cost of living. that's from 140K base to 165K. the 140K for single guy is good for dallas. but reaching 165K there takes years to reach. so just moving to a high COL state bumped me to 165K base and now i'm at 175K. if i move back to dallas and still retain 175K i would live comfortably for kids education plano is known for that. they are one of the best school districts across US
