TC: ~$250k
Base: $175k/year
RSU: $70k/year
YOE: 0 (PhD grad)
Current net worth: ~$100k
After taxes, I'd take home around $8,750/month (not accounting for RSUs).
I have a large dog and want to live in SF within walking distance to parks. I'm also bringing my car because I want to take advantage of the nearby outdoors (for example, Marin), as I like to camp/hike a lot with my dog.
Given that I need a parking spot (I'd prefer no street parking), I'm estimating that I'll probably end up paying $3,000 - $3,500 per month on rent+parking. This feels bad considering that's ~40% of my monthly income (I'm not counting my RSUs towards monthly income). Is this unreasonable? I'd prefer to live alone - I've been living with roommates my entire life and I want to live solo for a change.
Neighborhoods I'm considering:
Pac Heights
Western Addition
Japantown
Nopa
Lower Haight
Doboce triangle
Cole valley
Thanks for your help!
