I think about moving to Seattle and joining FB. Currently L5 in the Bay, about 340k TC. FB offers E5 at 185/630/50. With cheaper cost of living & no state tax that should be another 25% comp bump on top of the FB offer. So approx like if I got 500k in the Bay. Can afford a home. Now, the question is where to buy? I don’t like overcrowded dirty cities. Don’t mind commuting from the Eastside. Zip 98033 seems like a perfect still affordable location between Google Kirkland (if I don’t like FB and come back), Oculus Redmond (if I decide to try VR domain) and MS HQ (just in case), with short commute to Bellevue downtown and SLU via 520. Thoughts?
Bridle Trails is nice as well!
I love it! Although, it’s so expensive already...
Houghton is also great, check out this house! https://www.redfin.com/WA/Kirkland/4530-110th-Ave-NE-98033/home/459615
I too thought commute shouldn't be big deal from Eastside but god I was wrong. Under normal circumstances and during summer I can bear with the traffic but on days when it rains and is gray it gets way too stressful in the traffic. I have put on stress weight just because of the weather - commute stress rather than work or personal life stress. I would suggest you to stick with Seattle and look at the areas mentioned above.
Stick with Seattle.
Congrats. 630 is stock? Holy shit for e5... I have not seen such number0_0
I'll be listing my 3bd house in Magnolia 98199 for apr 830k in a couple of weeks, lol.
Do you have family? If yes, then Eastside.
Shoreline!
Any part of Bellevue depending on your budget.
Bellevue if you can afford it. Somerset and Lakemont is great. I would say go for Sammamish, as it’s a great place to live, but with the worsening traffic, It depends on your commuting tolerance.
Seattle proper, greenlake, ravenna, wallingford, maybe queen Anne.
Right answer. I'd prefer Queen Anne over all else, even if the house is slightly smaller.
That’s the thing, can’t find anything decent with a good backyard below 1M there. Love Eastside for more comfortable housing options, less traffic and proximity to many other employers. Don’t consider Amazon as a future employer. Everything else seems to have presence there.
