Tesla reached out to me earlier this week for a role in their rapidly expanding company. I just had a talk with their recruiter and waiting for the next round. I need feedback from current and former Tesla engineers about the WLB and Culture at Tesla. I am currently at Byton, please do not give me any nonsensical answers, my team is still working and things and we are slowly moving along. Byton is not what it used to be but it is still not a bad place to work. I am not looking for new opportunities but the guy reached out to me and I'm wondering if it makes sense to move. How about you get an offer first, then consider moving to Tesla or not.
Think its good to decide if you want to go to a company and then interview as its a waste of time energy and expectations otherwise.
Precisely!
Don’t mean to be an ass but Byton and Nio have a bunch of people that were laid off from Tesla. You’re never going to get positive feedback there. On the whole the answer to your question is it depends. You’ll definitely make more than what you’re making at Byton and you’ll also be working more. Depends highly on what team.
Almost every company has assholes and amazing people and it’s no different at Tesla. The one thing the Tesla has is a potential 20 X upside in the stock —- yes there is a non trivial chance this will be $1 trillion company that no other public company has that upside at this scale. Folks in Tesla believe that this will get to at least 500 billion in value (10x) just going by the massive order backlog they have and the fact that the semi and the pick up truck are going to blow the competition away. Almost everybody at Tesla believes this even though things are a shit show in many teams. For that reason people will stay at Tesla because the upside is almost given and a 5X upside is more real than any other place
Didn’t get a response hence posting it again. Wanting to know WLB & team culture in Tesla platform team, got offer week back ? Public forums has mixed reactions hence asking for more clarity
Did you ask these questions directly at interviewers? The reason being that work culture varies from team to team and also depends on the size of projects they are working on currently - whether they are new ones or improvements, the scale of changes etc It isn't just the company interviewing you, it's also you interviewing the company at the same time. When I got out of the interview, for my team I found out that there will be times where I will have to work more and times where things go back to a routine. The current and future projects in pipeline were exciting and some projects were also around making it easier to get things done. Maybe you can ask for another round with hiring manager? Not sure whether it's possible now that you have the offer already. But just ask the HR
Thanks for your response. Yes I did talk to HR and hiring manager. the team is new and work seems good at least what they have told me. But again wanted to double check on WLB and office politics and other non technical issues.
Have heard its more work load and less pay than Amazon
