What in the world!!!! I have been interviewing for a full time Senior position at Mozilla since a month. (Bay area) Been through 4 rounds of interviews with 5 different people. Now, the recruiter calls me saying that, would I be interested in contract to Hire !!! I mean what the heck???? The reasons they mentioned are weird. This is no where mentioned in job description/LinkedIn/ Mozilla careers webpage. Does this happen commonly in bay area? And the contract to Hire is around 3 months and hilarious thing is that they cannot guarantee to convert the contract into full time. Who interviews 4 rounds + 1 month of process for 3 months of contract. OMG never heard such hiring process. Any suggestions bayarea techies? #bayarea #interview #contract #recruiter #faang #tech #techcareer #engineer #software #softwareadvice #hire #fulltime #techcareer #tech
This is why I stopped using Firefox the company is going in the shitter
Me too
Their interview process is the reason you stopped using a browser that cares about your privacy and security?
Bait and switch. You say you want to move to the Bay Area. If they put you on contract, will they pay your relocation costs? My guess is no.
Nope and per hour compensation is not so great. It’s similar to full time compensation and no benefits and no PTO.
Yes I read about it here and glassdoor. But the team looked promising.
This is utter garbage. The culture at Mozilla is the whole reason I joined. You might have salty people who were laid off as a result of the pandemic. They had to lay off quite a few but many are joining back up. I just started a few months ago as a Senior SE and my interview process was super short. I received an offer immediately and am enjoying working with tons of friendly people.
Take the contract job and don't work.
They got struck in automating a process, I mentioned that I have done it in the past. I think they are in feeling to make me build it as a contractor and then end my contract.
Firefox user and couple years ago really was pumped to apply to Mozilla. Delayed due to personal reasons and then Covid. Glad I did. Not convinced the company is going to last and stay relevant a heck of a lot longer. After them pulling something like that, I sure would run and not look back...
The reason they mentioned is I was too technical for the position and they were thinking that I would get bored in the organization. LMAO
Run
That’s so weird.
Thank you for this insightful thread. Happy to have found it. Big fan of Moz from the beginning and saw some positions opening up. I know this has been several months ago, but can you share any insights on the technical interview process at Moz?
Easily avoid these, too many opportunities to even think about this one.
Yep thanks for the response 😀. But I have been waiting to move the bay and the response and the process took me 1 month +.
