Am a fresher and has offer from Mathworks Bangalore. TC: 22 ( base: 18.2). Should I join at Mathworks being a fresher or should opt for a different company?

  • TLDR - Don't join especially if you are a fresher

    Pros
    WLB and people are good

    Cons
    1) most of your initial time(is more than 1 year also for many people) will be wasted in doing edg stuff (emails,calls) before you are transferred to a dev team.

    2) tech stack and not learning the relevant things will harm you in future.

    3) the cash component will seem good now but the people working for more than one-two years have less TC than yours.
    This will repeat for you also when you are 1-2 years in the company, freshers will get more or par with you

    I don't know what you're talking about but that's really good cash for a fresher.
    Freshers are barely productive and reduce the overall productivity of the team for months before breaking even.

      I am not too optimistic regarding Mathworks primarily being their tech stack limited to matlab/ simulink. Wanted to know opinion whether it would hinder my progress in long run.

  • Try something else even if you get a lakh less. Tech stack here is bad and for freshers first one year is a man entire waste in most cases. No learning and as a fresher learning matters a lot.
