Tell that to millions of people who are putting food on the table because of ride sharing.

Bullshit. I meet with Uber drivers daily in different cities. Most of them are super happy with driving.

Pretty much, which explains the driver churn. If you're a regular rider in an area and see the same drivers week after week, you see they gradually grow less enthusiastic about driving and their car shows signs of accelerated wear. I haven't met a driver that's been on the platform for a while these days, even though two years ago you'd meet drivers that had been driving for Lyft/Uber for over a year.

At some point, they'll have to switch to self driving cars or they'll run out of drivers who can't do math.

Great way to start an argument, mister entitled I can't be arsed to use articles. I'm sure you're a hit at parties.

I usually ask drivers how long they've been driving for their respective ride share platform, most of them have been on it for less than three to six months. If you have such a distribution of driver tenure duration, then it's either driver base growth or unsustainable churn. Considering the amount of incentives Uber and Lyft put in for drivers, my educated guess is the second.

Driving for Uber is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It gives decent but low earnings (above minimum wage), but the main benefit is time and location flexibility.

Imagine working whenever you want to during the day, or night. Imagine working whereever you want to. Hit the beach, then work near the beach. Imagine taking a vacation whenever you want to. Imagine working in whichever city you are vacationing in, if you wish to.

Bag, My experience as a rider differs from what you explain. I have been allocated rides 7-8 minutes away despite of having a ride available around the corner, which my friends were able to confirm, was still available after I was allocated the farther ride.

FnuLnu thus could be due to various reasons. Maybe the near drivers declined the trip. Or they had set up filters to go to particular destinations. Or they they were driving in the opposite direction. Etc etc. Uber wouldnt intentionally give you a farther driver.

We have drivers who drove for lyft for more than 5 years. Uber probably have them too.

It takes some effort to make it a full time job. You have to work enough hours to hit the bonus targets and know when and where to drive.
