Enraged that kids prefer KPop to Bollywood. Installed cams in their rooms.
Is it worth it? Senior IC to engineer 2?
No. Don’t accept ENG 2 offer.
Accept it but ask the hiring manager about being able to be promoted in less than 1 year if it turns out you were mis-leveled. No guarantee that the hiring manager can do that, but it’s worth asking. Even if you don’t get that, it’s worth accepting. It’s awesome here.
This is terrible advice. Don't do this.
Please provide more constructive advice to the OP then.
worth it if your comp bumps
If total compensation goes up (not including Monopoly money that MIGHT turn into real money), then Who cares??
Comp goes up if you count rsu, else I lose 230k over 4 years.
I tend to like start up culture. But Microsoft is so nice in terms of benefits. I also appreciate a lot for the green card for me and my wife. I have been doing awesome at MS, promoted twice in 2.5 years. Hard decision.
You don't owe them a favor for the green card sponsorship.
I can assure you it is still startup culture. You move very fast and learn even faster. At Msft it is easy to be promoted because they have too many bands. I was at MSFt and now at Uber so PM me if you have questions.
stick to ms. uber isn't a startup anymore. check their employee count.
It's a great time to join Uber. Eng2 could easily have more impact than senior at Microsoft. Comp numbers are also likely be higher.
Senior at Microsoft is SWE 2. Comp reflects that, I bet.
