Have multiple onsite interviews lined up at Intel for Hardware Engineering. One of the teams I interviewed has come up with a verbal confirmation and they have shared their offer numbers over phone. Haven’t accepted the offer yet. What’s Intel policy with multiple team interviews? How long can I hold on before confirming? Should I inform other teams about this situation? Kindly help me with the best steps in this situation. Teams under consideration Core Graphics Mixed signal Server
Yikes Intel sucks as an employer. Is this a "get your foot in the door" move?
Agreed, I would stay as far away from Intel as possible. I worked there for about 2 years..
What makes you say that they suck? Asking bc im trying to get my foot in the door right now
You can interview with multiple teams. Just inform that you have an offer from so and so group. It is very good to land in a profit making group. I have seen at my time in intel other groups would give 2-3x the raises plus promotions are easier too. As far as I know NSG and datacenter groups were making good money. The groups you mentioned are too big though to say which are better or not. Intel people can give you more insight on that.
All I hear about Intel is that they don’t allow you to work past 5pm!!! In silicon valley that is so rare!
It’s totally ok to interview with multiple groups, it’s better to be frank though and tell each group you are also interviewing with others when they ask. But you won’t get more compensation since groups are not allowed to bid on offers. So if you decided to join another group than the one initial offered, unless it’s a different title/job code, the offer should be the same. I do think Intel is a good place for hardware engineers to learn so many aspects, compensation and politics aside. I don’t know about the mixed signal, core and server are not good choice; with Raja joining, I hope graphics now is moving toward better direction now, it was not.
I've definitely had the amazing opportunity to learn workplace politics. Great long term hardware skill
Intel pays 0.65 percentile compensation relative to its peers. If you’re C-grade talent, it’s the perfect place.
Honestly, I cannot recommend intel as an employer. It really is a caustic, highly stressful work environment. The work doesn’t have to be stressful, but it is due to internally driven, political posturing by BOZO middle and exec management. It’s bad-runaway!
Run!
May I ask if you are female or a person of color?
Yes- the only USA people being considered in my area are URM’s. I ask the OP how they will feel getting preferential treatment because of the color of their skin or their sex? How easy will it be to work with non-URM’s who get shafted due to their status? Will you trust a management who supports these stupid policies due to political reasons and other management who blindly follows? Intel is a bad place for all employees- the BOZO management rules fro the top down to almost all levels.
well my group hired a 10+ yr experienced person, career Intel, who doesn't know how to compile and run a simulation in VCS without an environment. The question was doesn't DA team do this kind of work..:) That's the kind of learning you will have at Intel, so decide wisely.
You can get offers from multiple teams, but teams are not allowed to compete with each other. Also, your recruiter will usually ask you if you have any other offers from within Intel.
