My father isn’t feeling well and I can’t visit him

He is in my home country. He recently had a heart procedure and isn’t feeling well lately. My H1b stamp is expired and GC is stuck at AOS step for last 8 months. If I leave the US, then I risk losing my job (happened first hand with couple people I personally know). My job is important because it allows me to support not just my wife and kid but also my parents back home. There isn’t much opportunity back home for me. My heart is sinking and I want to visit him right now, but the risk of losing my job is holding me back.
