I am starting to think Chinese interviewers currently fail non-Chinese candidates on purpose.

Cleared Amazon onsite, but lowballed.
I still in my early career. Had 3 managers so far. Current manager checks all the box : 1. No micro management 2. Trust your employee and trust thier work estimation. 3. Defend your team 4. Try not to make employees to work on holidays 5. Help in career aspiration Sad, he is leaving to persue greater opportunity. Best of luck to him. #e-commerce #retail #walmart #techcareer #engineer #manager

Follow him.
Finding a good manager is needle in the haystack problem. Good manager is the best way to become Principal engineer as he/she/they becomes Director.
Definitely +1 to this advice. Hang in for a few months and reach out to him for open roles, see if you can join for a level higher than where you are currently if all stars align.
Talking from experience - getting a good manager is very important and rare at the same time. If I were you I'd follow him to where he's going.
Make sure he knows how you feel about him! I got picked up by one of my best managers about 1.5 years after getting laid off when new C-suite came in. Stay in touch, and make some time to talk shop & family/hobbies
Sure
Have you been to a marriage counselor?
How about a small gift of appreciation? A good bottle of wine? Or whatever he’s into? It’ll make you memorable
How would you do that in a pandemic?
Home delivery/Amazon
Stockholm syndrome. Lol j/k. On a serious note, you are way too young to worry about this. While there are plenty of crappy managers, the fact that you worked with a good one means you now know they exist. Besides the way you described him is sort of a low bar for a really good manager so i think you’ll find more people that you like if this is what you’re after.
“Stockholm syndrome”, Good one! LoL 😂
Lol you got it. It’s kinda low bar for those you’ve mentioned.
Tell him + join his team!
