Hello,
I just got an offer for my first software engineer job (TC 140k), working with React for a very small company. I'm looking at all the posts on Blind with TC multiples of that, which is understandable, but I'd like to know what's the best way to get there in the future.
I have no formal CS education, but MS in another engineering field with many years of not very relevant experience. Decent portfolio though, can create a complete webapp myself. No leetcode training.
I think the problem will be more getting the interview than passing one. How will I get recruiters from tier one companies, coming from a non-conventional background and a small company?
My default path is just to do a good job for the next year or so, then see what's out there, but I am afraid if I don't do anything else it will just be more small companies interested.
Thanks!
