I have a 2011 Mazda3 that I bought when I was a single bachelor. The car needs new tires and servicing and I wonder if it's worth putting more money into this car, or should I just buy a new one since my needs have changed as a married man with a 2 year old.

Earlier I just wanted something that looked good and drove well. I still want those things but now I also want a comfortable ride, quiet cabin, more cargo space better climate control. Any suggestions? I don't want to spend more than 30K

  • So instead of spending 300 bucks on tires your solution is to buy a new car? ;) you need to get new tires regardless to sell it so start there.

If it’s your only mode of transport and you have 2 kids, then spending $800 for a set of 4 reasonable tires (mounted and balanced) that can last you 5-6 years or more is not dumb and is cheap insurance. If you actually own and teach cars you would know how much tires actually cost if you pay some shop to do it. This isn’t even an argument Public2

    • Lol. It's not an arguement? Sure it is. Costco has great tries and will last as long as your 800 dollar tires (and with a warranty to boot!) for half the price. If you want to pay extra for something that won't benefit you at all that's totally your choice but op asked so I offered an opinion. Take it or leave it but don't get so offended lol.

Yah Madza 3 is too small for a family. Rav4/Highlander/Subaru Outback/CRV might satisfy all your requirements.

I don't understand this mentality. He's only got one kid, not 5. What would make it too small for a family? Plenty of cars in the 80s and 90s were smaller and they were perfectly acceptable as family cars.

    • If he has one kid, chances are he’ll have another. Those mandatory fricking car seats are huge. Getting a kid in and out of a Mazda 3 is a lot of work. Get something like rav4 or cr-v.

So many options for under $30k! How about a CPO Kia Stinger? Twin turbo V6 and rear wheel drive. Or a used Dodge Charger RT (5.7L V8)(no need to buy brand new), a Chevy SS (if you can find it), CPO Cadillac CTS/CTS-V, and if you’re really crazy a 2014+ Maserati Ghibli (yes, you can get them for near $30k now, oh depreciation). Trying to find you a fun, rear wheel drive 4 door sedan/wagon that looks good, drives good and is a hell of a lot of fun. Also, could get a Subaru WRX?!
