Can I re-enter the US with previous employer valid H1B visa stamp and new employer offer letter and H1B transfer approval (I-797)? My joining date at the new employer will the next day after re-entry.

Since you are entering before joining new employer, carry documents for both employers.
I797&i94, visa stamp, employment document,H1B petition copy if available, last few paystubs.

Yes you can. But entry into the US is at the discretion of the CBP officer. Be sure to show the CBP officer your new i797 and do check the i94 date they issue.

As per my knowledge, yes.I was in a similar situation 7-8 years ago and travelled to Canada for a short getaway trip. However, please consult with a competent lawyer on this matter, perhaps your new employer attorney.

transfer approval doesnt mean jack until day 1 when you start. You could always not join after approval. High risk ans you cant argue with the CBP officer
