Why do people want me to outshine the master? Its literally the Number 1 law in the 48 laws of power (best selling book by robert greene).

I am pretty shocked that no one feels this way. Wont my seniors hate me if I am way better than them?

Can someone explain why these people are hinting that its okay to seem smarter than everyone else in the room? (assuming if i do it In the most humble way possible, and not being a douche about it so nobody feels insecure or inf).

We live in a world where everyone thinks they are an expert. Deep down they feel like they can do it all but lack luck.

I typically stay out of giving advice/volunteering in real life unless I make money or get promoted, or if the other person is in danger.

Free advice is like toilet paper today, sabke sab expert hain

  • LOL at your poll choices. Keeping this vast intelligence to yourself without testing it against your peers is a ridiculous philosophy. Share your ideas, if they’re good they’ll be accepted and if not you’ll be better off knowing why. If you’re truly the smartest engineer in the room, you’re in the wrong room… and your TC is too low 😂.

This book appears to give horrible advice. As a senior manager, I expect my reports to have better ideas about their projects because they’re the experts. My job isn’t to have all the ideas, it’s to help get the best ideas executed. If my reports consistently don’t outshine me on their areas of expertise, they’re probably getting a poor rating.

Good companies and managers hire people they think are smarter than them or have expertise that they don’t have.
