Where to rent in NYC as a 26 M? My budget is max 3k. Want to live closer to all the happening places. Also, anyone here at Amazon NYC?

Brother beaten severely as a kid. Doesn’t speak to dad at all now.
I'm at Amazon NYC too. Some hip neighborhoods are * Lower East Side * Williamsburg (particularly east / south) * Dumbo (way more upscale) * Greenpoint * Park Slope / Gowanus have a cool strip but they're a little residential I'd stay away from midtown. Very commercial. Too many chain restaurants. Things tend to quiet down after business hours (people go elsewhere for night life). My favorite is upper east. Literally nonstop restaurants. Night life is just okay though and the demographics skew older, richer, whiter.
Can I dm you?
Live in Jersey City. Best bang for your buck. That amount of money will give you a luxurious Manhattan sky line view apartment on the Hudson river with all modern amenities. You will also save 3% tax.
Those luxury apartments are overrated IMO. Better to live near grove in a brownstone style building
Wouldn’t TC be lowered in JC?
Manhattan is a ghost town right now
Not anymore lol.
Fck imagine taking home 10k and having to pay 3k for rent!
That's why live in JC. My TC is 270k and I pay 2k in rent for a luxurious 1 bedroom
Jersey City you avoid the 3% New York City income tax too. That saves you about $675 a month
- Lower East Side/East Village (loud, full of party people just out of college) - Williamsburg (crowded, shockingly expensive, former frat bros current “hipsters”) - Kips Bay/Murray Hill (groups of friends move here together) - Gramercy Park/Flatiron area (kind of expensive but there’s this generic sort of person who works in a high paying job and doesn’t know too many people in the city that always ends up here) - Bushwick (almost definitely not for you but it is really popular, populated with kids who got beat up on the playground in elementary school and people who like to do ketamine) I wouldn’t describe Dumbo or Park Slope as hip with the 26 year age group. Maybe Greenpoint. Deeper Brooklyn (more than like one stop in) is very in like Crown Heights, Bed-Stuy, Bushwick, etc. but you really have to be a certain type of person to want to live there.
This is uncannily accurate
Where to live depends on office location. You will want to live near a line that goes to the office. Unless you plan to bike.
Everywhere in Manhattan is happening so you’ll be good pretty much anywhere.
What is the rent for a 2 bhk in Manhattan?
At least 4k more likely 5k. Don't get a 2 br unless you have people to fill it
