I’ve seen a few articles here and there explaining that in NYC in 2019 the minimum salary for full-time salaried employees is $58,500. I make just under this but want to have a clear understanding of the laws before talking to my HR. I’m in customer service and am particularly thrown off by what the “executive and administrative” wording means in articles such as this https://davidrichlaw.com/over-the-next-two-to-five-years-new-york-state-increases-to-48750-to-58500-the-minimum-salary-for-the-executive-and-administrative-exemptions-from-overtime-pay-requirements/ Anyone familiar?
This is the people on blind now
No
How about, show enough value to an employer and use that as justification for a pay increase? Crazy idea, I know!
Say that again when bubble goes away and tech salary goes back to where it was and jobs were shifted to lower cost nations (evident since most software engineers in US are immigrants from lower cost nations). We are not getting paid better because of justification. It is supply and demand. Recent tech growth made this go shoot up but when bubble bursts, it will be ugly as all companies will start trying to reduce the labor cost and lots of layoff will have cascading effect in tech to make you work even more with tighter deadline. Tech is the most vulnerable sector in this regard as we have seen it already before. This time there are even more number of engineers in those countries and most of US companies have them as main labor. Shift will be amazingly fast and pain will be too much. It doesn’t matter if you work at a reputable company.
I will say it again
Why not just make min salary be cool $1,000,000? Just politicians trying to buy votes from ignorant populace.
The companies will move or fire you before they pay customer service and any other job a pay jump from 20-30k/whatever to 60k just because nut job liberals think thats a fair number.
Lol 20-30? Sorry I don’t work for a shit company. Make 55K
