looking to switch to IB very badly. I won’t have trouble getting into NYU’s MBA program. Currently at EY for a little over a year, CPA, CFA level ll candidate. Looking to join any size investment bank.
Yeah stern basically is optimized for cranking out investment bankers (no buy side stuff though, that goes to h/s/w).
H/s/w?
Harvard Stanford Wharton
How many years of work experience do you have total? Yes, Stern has a solid m MBA program that could plug you into IB
I currently have 3 yoe in total. I expect a high GMAT score, the advisor at Stern said I had a excellent odds of acceptance given my background
Oh yeah you would be a great fit. I went for their info session last month and the admissions rep mentioned their typical range of YOE is 4-8 so you are good to go. Best of luck. What round are you applying?
Do you recommend a specific GMAT prep company? What score are you aiming for?
Manhattan Prep is solid. Aiming for above 720!
The only thing that is useful is their English writing booklet, it’s wonderfully brief and on point. You can buy it for about 50$ used. Other stuff in gmat is trivial, just get a few sample question to get used to their weird language and answer sets. Anyone with healthy brain and decent school grades should crack mid 700s easily.
You can opt to take the EA exam instead of the gmat, I highly recommend it
Why not just apply directly to an analyst IB role? If you get someone to actually recommend you; there is a decent chance you can avoid a MBA. In general, proactive career management goes much further than certificates and additional educational degrees
True, you dont necessarily need an MBA to get into IB
Iv been applying, it’s super hard! I didn’t come from a target school . My undergrad was a top accounting school tho
Stern full time if you want to change careers. Part time - much less of a chance. (So zero tuition reimbursement, unless your company pays your full time ride.)
This is not true, you can still change careers in the part time
Bank of america, how u like IT in your company?
You need at least 5 years experience to break in with an MBA. Any less and your resume goes straight in the shredder
Not true. Know people who were like journalists for two years who got ib jobs from my m7 program. Ib is not that competitive for mba, you just need to hustle
Why not stretch and shoot for Columbia if you think nyu is a shoo in?
maybe because of the cost?
Should be nearly identical in cost

Good school. Whether they’re worth the money is a different quest. Talk to your manager about tuition reimbursement, talk to NYU about the scholarship. Rich schools have very good budgets for support
