Hi,
I am a Ph.D. student looking for a good research internship focused on Recommender Systems. What are the best companies to apply to? My eyes are on Spotify and Pandora for the moment and I am planning to contact them during the RecSys conference next week (I am presenting a long paper there).
Anyone is aware of other interesting opportunities?
Also, what should I prepare for a research internship interview? Do they focus on Data structures or more theory and ML (as an International this is going to be my first Internship in the US)?
I heard that referrals are the best option to land an Interview. I have already secured one for Google and Amazon but they did not post their 2021 Research internships yet so I am waiting. If anyone is willing to offer referrals I will be more than thankful.

Becuase I am quite confused about the industry and really don’t know what to choose, recsys or computer vision for PHD study. Really OP can shed some light on what the industry is like for recsys?
Thanks a lot.
Opportunities are available. Most companies need recommender systems especially that in most cases RS are the money bringer for the company.
Anyways, what do you recommend to strengthen my chances of getting an interview at a good Lab apart from good publications?
