Are people really hypocrites? I’m dealing with a bunch of my friends who I think are hypocrites. They mocked me when I was very under confident, dependent during my PhD first year but in reality they are going through the same existential crisis now. Should I confront them? Or should I leave and move on with the lesson they taught me?
Also are people really concerned on how they present themselves to the society? What do they really get in return? Power over others? Does that really matter on the long run?
Any insights/suggestions, please!?

“Life is too short for taking revenge just try to do things what makes you happy “.
As you mentioned that they are your friends so better help them vs made their life hell. They will realize themselves. If you don’t consider them as friend and they are just any random guy then move on.
