Location: Seattle Position SDE2 Base: 158000 RSU: 90 units Joining Bonus: 50K year 1, 40K year 2 Relocation package: 10K I feel the RSU and joining bonus is low. How much room do I have for negotiation? Currently in CA and current package is slightly better than this ~220K TC Update: YOE: 6 years
Note that Seattle has no income tax so that's a 10% increase in your salary
Yeah but cost of living is so high that is effective a 30% cut unless you are coming from NYC or San Francisco
I have similar yoe and received higher sign on and higher rsus, but lower base. If you have competing offers, you can probably push RSUs and sign on up.
Mind sharing approx numbers
Can you elaborate on the interview process?
That's a VERY good offer. Not top of the band, but very good. Typical SDE II base is 139. You have a great headstart.
Re: negotiation: always, ALWAYS ask for more. Worst that can happen is that they say no.
Why do you guys see base as such an important thing here? Would it matter if the difference is compensated through rsu and jb?
Honestly Amazon is weird but base has a huge impact to anything that is based on a % of base which most companies do

Is OpenAI the future?
It's a very good package. 158k is on the higher side for SDE2
Yea I was told 160 is cap. So I am ok with base. Wondering how much negotiation room I have on joining bonue and rsu
