I saw this townhouse listing and I thought it was amazing, except for the school rating. We do not have kids yet so I don’t want to worry too much about it. It has the potential to be a great investment property as well, if we decide to move elsewhere in a few years. It’s close to all the tech companies and the airport (my wife travels a lot). What do you guys think? How much should I bid? Thanks!

The location is prime for a rental property. SJSU, SanJose dirdion, Google, Intel, Nvidia, AMD, Paypal are all within 15 min. I am familiar with the neighborhood. Its very vibrant and has great downtown feel. But not good for family with school going kids as the school rating is poor. Bid at the asking price and communicate with your agents to adjust according to the comps.

Condos aren't generally good investments so only buy if you will enjoy it and aren't expecting it to pay off.

3BR are often first homes for 1 and 2 kid families, so the school will matter for resale value. You did mention “investment” after all.
