Need insights/advise on recent offer from Microsoft

I recently got an offer from Microsoft at L60. Talking to the hiring manager, I got to know that I would be a part of Azure cosine team responsible for injecting data points for new features and providing results (still not too sure what exactly it is). I am wondering what team it is and how much software development that involves. Is it possible to ask the recruiter for a different team? If I take the offer, how soon would I be able to switch teams? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is this D&I team? You can switch on the first day but you need to reinterview similar to any other candidate

I am not sure if it is called D&I team. I was hired via a hiring event for Azure. In that case, I was wondering if I can ask for a different team within Azure.

I have heard cosine has slower promotions. Wlb should be mostly good

Do you know what the work would be like?

To the other part of your question - microsoft hires for a team. So you’ll mostly have to interview again to switch teams unfortunately. It’s the same even if you try to switch teams after joining the company

You should definitely try asking then. It’s much more of a pain in the ass to shift teams than to ask now and get a different one.

Why didn’t you ask the HM how much dev it involves? 🤔

I did but did not get a definite answer.

Careful, if you ask for a different team now you may be without an offer from current team. Since you are level 60 I’m assuming you are early career. There is a lot to learn in Azure’s various teams. Join first work hard and learn. Then see about switching internally or to other companies.

That makes sense. Thank you! Do you know how easy or difficult is it to switch teams internally? What would the process look like?

Indeed rainwater Feb 25, 2020

You can view openings on an internal only jobs site. Then talk to the hm and if you have a good track record you will do some interviews. If all goes well your manager will be notified. Staying within an org is easier than switching to another org.
