I am planning to move to Dallas and following is the provided compensation is it good or bad for my experience: About me : married with one kid. Base: 145 Role: Senior Developer - SMTS EXP: 9 years
That's a great /salary/ for the region. No issue on housing, schooling, etc. Lifestyle will be comfortable.
Oh great to know
Between my wife and I, we pull ~$220k and have a kiddo. We have a 3000+ sqft home we bought for $365k, nice (not luxury) cars, daycare (basically second mortgage), travel, go out to dinner, etc. Plus we have decent savings and retirement accounts.
Depends where are you moving from
I am moving from Bay area
You'll live like a fucking king in comparison then!
It's a good income for Dallas. Nothing wrong in trying to get it up though. Dallas is very affordable.
What’s SMTS stand for? You’ll be fine with that salary. What’s your TC? For reference, I’m at 120 TC 100 base with 1 YOE.
Senior developer
Try Redfin, they have a Frisco office, 15-20 mins from Dallas that we’re hiring aggressively in. PM me for more info if you want. We’d pay more than 145k for 9 YOE there
How are the job opportunities in Dallas?
Pretty good, I’d say. There’s quite a few companies here: Chase, BofA, C1, Cisco, Raytheon, Samsung. Even Microsoft and Amazon have offices here but I don’t think they have normal SWE jobs.
So there will be less software jobs? When compared with Bay area?
Some people say 145 is very less for that experience in Dallas is it true?
145 in Dallas is what Amazon would pay a new grad SDE....... take if for what it's worth
Oh ok, but for with 9 years experience 145k is worth it?
