I can't switch job right now because I'm waiting for GC. Hopefully in a year or so I'll be able to get GC and then move on.
But I feel like I really need to go through some interviews to assess my actually skill level and identify gaps. But always worried about doing that thinking doing this I may lose future opportunities. Because If I do well and then don't join they may just ignore my application in the future/black list or something. Are these any real concerns? Any tips on what to keep in mind while going through interviews just for practice purposes?

Interview with good companies which you real don't care about joining. If FAANG is A-Listers. Interview with the B-Listers. This gives you a fair bit of idea on where you stand.
A lot of the times, this gives you a fair bit of idea on ur knowledge level. If you are confident enough, give interviews every alternate month. So that's 6 companies over a year's time. It's not that hard to get 6 B-List companies.
Start with the A-Listers when your very close to getting your GC. This will allow an easy transition and they might wait if your a good candidate. I've seen companies wait 1-2 months sometimes.
Okay now which country are u from that you got ur GC with 3yrs work ex?π
It's better to just say the truth and move on with it. There are tons who'd be open to sponsoring. So ur good!
