Need your advice: after much analysis I have found I am a generalist, I like tech and new things and getting the rush of coding something up for the first time, but I really don't like to keep working on the same thing optimizing etc.. is development the wrong path for me? Will I go far with this? Or should I look at something else in tech fields.

Try working at a startup, founding a startup, or moving to a smaller, more R&D focused team

Very few people like routine and repetitive tasks, especially among people with high IQ. It is not about finding the job with no routine it is about optimizing your own work to minimizing the routine, finding challenges in it, falling in love with perfection <s>growing up</ >

PMs are actually supposed to be the constant execution person, data-driven and results oriented forever tinkering with optimization (for whatever KPI they're supposed to hit ie revenue). So not sure if this is a sound suggestion.

You are lazy, not a generalist.
