My wife has an interview for a PM role at Amazon — one of her sticking points is PTO. Anyone familiar with whether Amazon is open to negotiating PTO as a part of a job offer?
Thats almost impossible. As a PM, you should celebrate if you can just use your earned PTO.
F
Lol no.
Negotiate for a beach house in Malibu.
PTO is generally a internal policy that applies to all strictly. If it’s important go to a “unlimited vacation” company if you actually believe it
When we were acquired by IBM somehow our founders negotiated 4 weeks of vacation for everyone. I think you need 15 yoe at IBM to get that?
even if she gets the PTO, knowing amazon they will guilt her into never using it or threaten PIP lmao
PTO is standardized based on policies, just like most other companies. 2 weeks year 1, 3 weeks 2-5, then 4 weeks after that I believe
Yikes. How many sicks days?
I don't recall the cap, but I believe it's 5 or 7? You also get personal days. All totaled it's close to 6 work weeks
Thanks all. This is pretty much in line with what I expected
The hiring manager can be flexible but it won't be in the contract. So if the manager changes, etc. there will be no guarantee.
This is a good point, my manager has never really tracked time off unless you are hitting your cap (which makes it look like you aren't taking vacation.) Depends on the manager, type of role, and work being done though.
Negotiate PTO? Looks like manager will not have to worry about who to PIP anymore after that negotiation.
