They do
And actually all company do
That have a reputation for this, it's true. I had heard about it long before and decided I wasn't going to negotiate if I ever got an offer from them, but at the time it was my dream company. I took their offer and didn't negotiate, but it was still almost twice what I was getting at Amazon (I negotiate hard there but not hard enough). I did very well on the Apple interview and it was a niche role that needed my skill set so I got a good offer and didn't negotiate it any. In hindsight I could have squeezed them for 20% more. Unless you have another offer and/or if you consider it your dream company (you will be dissapponted btw; they have a saying at Apple: everyone on the outside wants in and everyone on the inside wants out), then you should be upfront with your full salary details with them and take the offer if it looks fair. If you want to negotiate at all you should ask for 10% more stocks and 10k more bonus (they don't move much on base). Also they will send you a welcome packet in the mail which feels very professional and official so it feels weird to negotiate.

Always negotiate your offer. Great if u have another offer in hand but not needed. Do your research on sites like paysa or for averages, check Glassdoor.
Negotiate at least a little, It's the easiest pay raise you'll ever get.
What would you negotiate at first RSU, base salary or signing bonus ? Just got an offer 150k base 150k rsu 50k signing bonus! I think I could do better, 6YEO SWE.

Yes but you need to be pretty solid on your job skills else you might end up in loosing your offer
Do they retract offers just because of negotiating?
If you're not careful. Just say you have another offer.
