I have 2 job offers from Square and Stripe. How much are Stripe/Square willing to negotiate? Does anyone have any experience negotiating base, equity, or sign on at either? Is one pay type easier to negotiate compared to the others? Both offers are very similar: Base - 170, sign on - 25, equity - 60k a year at current prices, normal bonus structure
Be modest when asking, no more than 12% IMO
That’s so low. 🥲
Cool
What's your yoe?

I have room to negotiate, I just don't know what is reasonable
Biggest loss is what exactly? You practiced too much lc and not enough negotiation
What type of role ?
Business Role
Oh ok this makes sense.
Lol why didnt you say this upfront, changes everything
Stripe has wiggle room for sign on only. My offer from Square was way lower (think 70-80%) of Square TC so it wasn’t even worth it for me to negotiate the Square offer. Despite being in similar spaces the cultures are quite different. If you want better WLB go to Square. Stripe has a higher hiring and performance bar IMO
What is the increment % and refreshers range in Stripe yearly appraisals? it may be interesting to know how quickly the gap in upfront offer vs expectations can be filled after joining.
Can you share more? What level? Location? Kind of role?
OP, were you able to negotiate? I have an offer and trying to negotiate as well. Appreciate if you could share new numbers.
Tell a recruiter: if you give X extra I will accept right away
Yes I'm trying to determine what is reasonable though - extra 10%, 20%, etc
Actually, try 10-15%, since you have a competing offer
