Anyone been successful negotiating starting base salary at Stripe and can share tips? Thank you! UPDATE: I was able to negotiate a 9% bump in salary and sign-on bonus equivalent to 10% of my starting salary.
Ditto on above, they were unwilling to budge on base or stocks, just bumped up the sign on due to competing offers.
What’s your offer and level?
Sign on is the only usual negotiation outcome
Not negotiable
I’ve only ever seen once here on blind where somebody successfully negotiated base/RSUs with stripe and they claimed to have a specialized skill set and multiple other offers.
I negotiated too. Didn't claim specialized skillset, but I did indeed have other offers which were higher than Stripe's. I was told by the recruiter "this is the max for the level you're coming in, and it's an exception" and 1 month later a friend of mine joined at the same level with +40k stocks / year. Frankly I love Stripe in every aspect other than how recruiters approach new hires
I had multiple competing offers and got a bump in sign on
I had a competing offer that was higher in cash comp (though not tc) and I told stripe I'd sign on if they could beat the other offer on cash compensation. They bumped up the base a little bit and added a sign on bonus on order to do so. This was for L3 in 2019, but they had the reputation of not negotiating back then, too.
Same with me, they didn’t budge on stocks. They bumped base and added 10% sign-on for two years. Anyone successfully negotiated on stocks ? What strategy worked for you.
I was only able to negotiate sign on. I think they do base negotiation in rare circumstances and also only within your band. Use competing offers, upcoming interview loops and unvested shares/missed bonuses to negotiate (in that order of effectiveness)
