I was wondering if you order a car online, do you have any leverage to negotiate when it arrives in dealership? Specifically, I wanted a new Volvo XC40 and have been waiting 3+ months and there's still no word on delivery. They say there are no incentives on this model and the wait could be 6 months. Previously, I was waiting for a Tesla model 3 for, I guess, 2 years before I gave up and ordered XC40. So I'm quite frustrated at this point not being able to buy a car for 2.5 years now and can't negotiate anything.
The difficulty you’re having with negotiating is not that the car is ordered online, it’s that the car is in such high demand that they have a backlog of orders as you can imagine they have zero need to discount the car as they can just ship your order to the next guy.
On a side note, how is working at riot games ?
Realized it won't work for me cause of lack charging options when you have to street park in SF. No superchargers either. Garages with electric stations are more expensive than gas.
No of course you don’t the dealership isn’t even involved. If you custom order a car, you pay retail. No exceptions. Your frustration about buying a car is your own fault. Walk in to a dealer and negotiate and leave with a car.
^This. Also the increased demand (or limited supply) of something results in you paying more. There is no need for the manufacture to do incentives since people will buy it at full price with a wait. Both examples aren’t negotiated in any circumstances since they’re direct. As @cruise said, it’s your fault.
I did walk into a dealership. There was none available.
