Negotiation for a new grad

Got a verbal offer from Oracle HQ in California. Recruiter is asking what are my salary expectations. She is insisting on me giving the numbers first. I have never negotiated before. I’m a new grad with Master’s degree. I have other offers but not in the bay area. Upcoming interviews: Amazon, Bloomberg Would appreciate any input/advise/tips #oracle

Don't push hard & use other offers as leverage. What's your deadline to respond? Hopefully a week out or something. You take what you're given unless you're accomplished in open source or an Ivy League grad. I smell a recession coming - and many of my conservative finance folks in the conservative investing company I work for ... echo my sentiment. It's a very cold time of year, friend. We've already had some layoffs and there's more talk of fat-trimming. Or you can highball and hope for the best. Check levels.fyi for new grads in your area. Test your luck.

Thanks you! My recruiter asked me to email the competing offers but they are low.

New grads offers are very vanilla. If you are convinced your situation is special, let the manager know what you're willing to take. Once he agrees, recruiting just procedes to collect any documentation on which the offer is conditional (other offers for example). The only room for negotiation I have found comes from having a discussion with the manager that is bringing you in. This usually requires significant experience and/or direct impact of your skills in the role.

Only worth it for 200k they take 1 month to get board approval at least. Try to get amazon and google and use oracle as competing
