Can anyone at Netflix help my sister in law who is a former Netflix employee? She is in the process of moving and just had all of her boxes stolen, including all the awards and shirt/jacket/sweatpants swag she had from her time at Netflix. In the process of cheering her up for the holidays, I was hoping someone in the Blind community could connect me with a Netflix employee that could help me buy some of the swag to replace some of the items she lost? I live in the East Bay and can venmo and meet you in person.
Good story
I thought this was an innocuous request to the Blind community. Why is it met with such hesitation? Strange flex
You do realize it takes several days to even order something, we don’t have a physical store at the company. You can’t get it for Christmas even if you want to. Just thing of a better way to cheer her up
She doesn’t have any contacts that work there anymore??
Nothing says surprise like asking your sister in law to get their own gift
That’s not my point. If she wanted it so badly, she would have done it herself.
This is too weird for me I am sorry. We also don’t sell our swag so I want to use the best judgement here and pass You can buy a replacement on amazon, not the same but close enough
Like you don’t believe me? Anything I can do to ease your concerns? She’s just going through a tough time with her stuff getting stolen. She had black sweat pants with the Netflix logo on it and a black zip up hoodie with the logo on it too.
We don’t have sweatpants on our store so you can’t get it. I’d advice buying something online. Even better - with brand name on it. I don’t think it’s correct for me to get something on the store for free and give or sell it to you. If she worked at Netflix she should understand and appreciate us not doing that for her. I also advice my fellow colleagues to use their best judgement and avoid doing that.
I am seriously doubting if this is the beginning of a classic social engineering example
No social engineering or ulterior motives. I’m just trying to cheer her up for Xmas.
Get her a good present, Bloomingdales gift card or a good dinner. Leave the past in the past. Don’t be attached to things. And especially important not to be upset about things.
Help her out in some other way. She will be fine without the swag. Yes it’s a shitty situation but really sounds like time to move on. Easier said than done but ultimately everyone will be better off this way.
Wow everyone at Netflix here is fucking asshole jesus, like I get it’s a weird request but don’t beat the guy up about it
Don’t judge, or attack Netflix employees , we are not beating the it in any way. Move along
Sorry I’ve seen too many fakers to believe this story. That’s humanity In a nutshell
You're putting Netflix employees in a bad spot. It is in poor taste for an employee to sell their free swag. And the awards are deff off limit. I doubt your sister would do that either if she still worked there. Just buy them online.
It's not possible to get the swag before Xmas. We do have a Friends/Family option that employee can pay for the swags. If your sister really needs it, it's easiest to contact her ex-colleagues and make an order for her. Blind is not the best forum for this.

Moonlighting
I’m so confused
I guess she used to work at Netflix and had lot of swag that was stolen.
She loved wearing her Netflix swag because she used to work there and had a lot of good memories of her time there
