Can someone in Netflix tell me why the programs one already watched isn't removed from the selections or atleast marked? It is hard to know what one has watched before before clicking on the tile and starting the program. It is a simple feature. And to matters worse, the thumbnail/poster for the same program keeps changing, making it even harder to identify as seen before.
If I watch 99% of a show and exit so the next trailer or movie doesn't auto start, mark it as fully watched. Don't show it under "Keep watching".
This ^
Probably some sort of testing determined that leaving those movies and rotating the posters was better for a KPI. Maybe a PM even got promoted for it
Well put it in 'watch again'....idiots I tell you
Netflix doesn’t want you to know how many shows you’ve watched. You may start reducing your consumption.
Imagine thinking Netflix actually gives a shit about user experience. Everything from the UI to the streaming codec is designed like some angel funded startup and is held together by spaghetti and duct tape. They have some good talent in the backend but their user experience is absolute turd fest.
Common dude, don’t be so binary about things in life
Interesting. For me personally, the UX is better than all the other streaming services I’ve tried.
It’s the same reason why Microsoft products show a blue screen every once in a while 😶
That's BS. windows never crashes :p
Get better shows too!
Can’t speak for the team that owns it, but Realize that. 1) it’s all ML based. Stuff you already watched appears in “continue watching” if there’s more to see. 2). Artwork is ML based as well. Likely different artwork at different times of day influences the CTR and view engagement. Might also be an AB test. I think many people probably have a long memory about what shows they’ve seen or not. A check mark or some kind of chevron on the title that you’ve seen it doesn’t sound like a bad feature but I think efforts are better spent on improving recommendations to give you better titles you’ll likely want to see. I don’t think I’ve ever lost track of stuff I’ve seen before but have had issues finding and continuing shows I am interested in watching. Because it’s ML based, we wouldn’t want to change the scoring of the titles in the final rank. Many times people replay the same title, so you wouldn’t want the ranker to punitively rank shows you’ve seen and have thew drop off the row and difficult to find. So overall some decorator on the title showing that you’ve seen it seems like a reasonable request.
What you said makes sense, except that now a days no show completely ends, once the titles start scrolling, it goes back to the menu and this causes LL shows to get added to 'continue watching'. This is with the Netflix app and Roku tv, but I have seen similar patterns in the Netflix app on other platforms.
What is a bug for one user could be a feature for another. Have you considered that there are folks that like the UX as it stands?
As long as we are making feature requests, I would like my watched movies to be removed from my list automatically.
That would be best. It is really annoying to have to browse through this
Also a feature to list all the shows/movies I watched
