Levels.fyi shows the senior software engineer at netflix base pay Is 500k. Stock and bonus not listed. Sure TC is about right as other tech but how base is that big ? I do see they have only 2 levels though new college grad and the senior. So we missing on data inputs and this could be only for big shot in company? If netflix employees can comment Yoe 6 Tc 250k
Yes, Netflix pays all cash.
Netflix doesn’t pay rsus. Their philosophy is if you want stock buy it with your base
There is basically only base in Netflix and like 5% or something of your base in options
No more free options, just cash now. And you can buy options with your salary if you want.
New grad program is very new. The pay for that is ~250k including sign on bonus. The median for senior software engineers (what they traditionally only hired) is around 550k. Both are all cash.
Hey, can you dm me?
Netflix is all cash. No stock or bonus. $500k base from Netflix is the same as saying $500k TC from other FAANG.
Can’t you buy options at discount so the 500k is more?
The options come at a discount, but not the sort of discount you're thinking. While the options you can buy with your salary are leveraged so every 40% they go up in market value, you gain a 100% return, you need your options to go up that first 40% just to get back the money you used to buy the options. So, if the options had a strike price of $500, when the stock price is $500 or less, the options are worth $0, and you've lost money. If the options are between $501 and $699, you've still lost money. At $700 you break even. At $900 you double your money, at $1100 you triple your money, etc.
Netflix let’s you choose what split you want between base and RSU
No they don't. You get all cash. Of course you can buy stock with that cash if you want.
https://jobs.netflix.com/work-life-philosophy 1. Stock Option Program: Each employee chooses each year how much of their compensation they want in salary versus stock options. You can choose all cash, all options, or whatever combination suits you. You choose how much risk and upside (down) you want. These 10-year stock options are fully-vested and you keep them even if you leave Netflix.
Since you just got internet, there is a tv show called the office, make sure you watch it, it’s classic!
I’m watching it as I read this. Nice sleep fodder.
Netflix like to pay mostly cash
