Netflix guys, where do you live?
I am considering San Jose downtown area, looking for more suggestions. Are there netflix shuttle or Uber reimbursement from there? Married with no kids, looking for 1bd/1ba in around 2.5-3k monthly rent. I am not party person, would like something quiet. Within 15 minutes drive would be perfect.
there are no shuttles from san jose to los gatos for netflix. do you have a car? if you commute from SJ to Netflix it’s about $15 one way for a private lyft. no reimbursement. honestly you should just get a car, and while downtown san jose is quiet it’s pretty lame. what my partner and I did was live at Santana Row, it was much quieter than you would expect, an underground parking spot is included in rent, and it’s basically the same distance from downtown SJ.. and everything you need is there within walking distance - grocery store, mall, cvs, places to eat, movie theater, etc.
oh and another thing - every place we looked at downtown sj charged $200-400 per month for a parking spot on top of rent

I heard they reimburse uber expense but you need to pay tax. I am also joining in the next few weeks

Los Gatos if you can afford, if not, Campbell (but recently Campbell went crazy expensive also)
I live mid-Penninsula. Commute is not great, but bearable. Great schools district and flexible enough for my next gig be it down in Silicon Valley or up in the town
Btw in your case in would try to live in Santa Cruz. Commmute is not gong to be the best, but the place is totally worth it :)
Or the Santa Cruz Mountains if he wants really quiet and closer to work. (But there is no shuttles there)
Campbell. 20 min walk to work
I live in Willow Glen and like it. Campbell is nice. Los Gatos is good but has a premium for housing near its downtown. Netflix does currently pay for Lyft or Uber commuting with the expectation you ”work not drive”.
I love downtown SJ. It’s much more chill and quiet than SF, but that’s why I like it.
