Can someone help me with pay comparison for software engineer between Netherlands and Canada?
Where can I make the maximum overall compensation?
Whats the base salary in both these places for SDE2?

- Both have very different style of living. You’ll pay around 52% in taxes in Netherlands, but you will have a lot of government sponsored benefits, relaxed work-life balance, your severance if they to fire you will be 3M+, and you can basically take 2Y paid sick leave for nervous breakdown if your doctor is ok with that.
In Canada you’ll pay about 32% in taxes, it would definitely be less vibrant than Amsterdam. Employment law is a bit better than it is in the States, but not even close to Netherlands...
- Canada was boring for me, but if you like hiking and quiet, you might enjoy. Amsterdam is super fun, vibrant night life, great culture, you can travel across the Europe on the train every weekend and etc, but NY apartments are huge comparing to what you can find in Amsterdam.May 3, 2019 0
