New Amazon SDE II - Tips & Tricks?

YOE 2.5 TC/yr of offer 290k Obviously, I pushed them hard in negotiation. Expectations will be high, I can deal with that. Wondering if anyone has insightful tips on how to exceed at Amazon? Useful internal sites, not well known benefits, ways to get help or resources that aren't obvious (e.g. Microsoft had a mentor list), culture tips, etc. And I know people are going to say I'm lying. Feel free to PM me. I'll share my team, manager, and screenshot of offer letter for proof if it helps me get more context that could help. Thanks in advance Update 1 based on questions: Other Offers: Salesforce (I actually signed with them and reneged when Amazon came to that number) Microsoft Google (sort of, they want me to do another loop. I never told Amazon I had or hadn't got an offer, just that their process was taking longer than I preferred so I wanted to negotiate anyway - I ended up turning it down) TC Breakdown (rounded numbers to avoid NDA, PM if interested in exact): 160k sal 200 rsu 180k bonus

Nope. Your TC does not determine your expectations. That's an awesome offer but expectations from a SDE2 is not much.

Interesting. Not at all what I'd expect. Does that mean if I do well L6 could happen quickly?

The jump to L6 requires a lot of luck in terms of projects and building relationships. It requires anywhere from 2 years to never.

Which data structures and how many of them did they ask you to code?

Microsoft LiftMore OP Dec 1, 2018

All of them. Seriously. In one interview I had to code a priority queue because c# doesn't have one

Vertivco Warp Zone Dec 1, 2018

So you had to code some tries and bipartite graphs?

Goldman Sachs pakalu Dec 1, 2018

Did you have any competing offers? Which?

290k with 2.5 years of experience, wow..

Microsoft LiftMore OP Dec 1, 2018

I know. I couldn't believe it. I'm still pretty taken aback by it all

Amazon YFdu24 Dec 1, 2018

How did you manage to squeeze that much? Even Google doesn't really give 290k for 2.5 yoe!

Insureon ShipJumper Dec 1, 2018

Awesome. Congrats! That's a really really good offer and negotiation. I think I would need to push them hard too. I got numbers from them (for SDE2, L5, Seattle) but looks like my offer can be significantly improved. OP- What's your location?

Microsoft LiftMore OP Dec 1, 2018

I live in Redmond, it's for Seattle office

Wow congrats. Did amazon raise their L5 cap? I thought it maxed out at like $250 for Seattle.
