It's so depressing to think that new Apple campus is located in the area with average house approaching $2mil :-( Why can't major company build a campus NOT in Santa Clara county. Just move it 50 miles south, 50 miles east, or 100 miles north!!! /Venting off
You realize they could not build it, and average house in the area would still approach $2M?
He/she complains on campus location (in high price housing area) and not about the housing prices. To clarify, he/she wants to live close to his work wherever it is, so it's about the campus location.
I am saying the campus location is already in a high price housing area.
Yeah, something is gonna crack soon for you guys. I can't see them jacking up salaries just to keep up with your inflated market. The money pressure and the traffic must create a ton of assholes
It's the price we pay for so many tech companies in a single area. The question should be why can't we rezone and build denser and taller? No more room for homes. Suburbia is tapped out. This area is jacked up with hyper sensitive NIMBYs that don't want anything to change. That's why homes cost 2 mil.
And clearly is full of people with no skin in the game who are dying to be able to tell other people how to live their lives.
I'd love to hear an alternative idea of lowering the obscene cost of living. Any idea really. Supply and demand requires more supply to bring down costs. More supply = denser housing. That or world class transportation to move people in from farther away, but the NIMBYs don't want that either. And while we're talking about no skin in the game, how fair is it that pay 4x as much property taxes as my neighbor who bought 15 years ago for the exact same tract house. I've got a lot more skin in the game when it comes to paying for infrastructure and a schools while my neighbor reaps the benefits of equity but pays a fraction for it. Prop 13 is a joke. No other state anywhere has this ridiculous law. No wonder this state is screwed and all other taxes are high to compensate.
agree. Reno could be nice too, not everyone loves cities.
Hey I would move to a Google Reno office IN AN INSTANT. if you ever want to push for this I'm on board
